TabTab Privacy Policy

1. Scope and purpose

This policy applies to the TabTab Chrome extension. TabTab is a tab-management tool that helps users find, switch, organize, close, reopen, and automatically clean up browser tabs.

2. Information TabTab processes

To provide these features, TabTab may process open-tab information such as tab and window identifiers, page titles, URLs, favicons, tab status, creation time, last-access time, and open count.

When history search is enabled, TabTab processes recent browsing history, including page titles, URLs, last-visit times, and visit counts, to help users find and reopen pages. Search text is used in memory to match results and is not saved as a search history.

If automatic tab cleanup is enabled, TabTab keeps a local log of tabs it closed, including the title, URL, close time, last-access time, and reason, so the user can review and reopen them.

3. Storage and synchronization

Tab activity metadata and automatic-close logs are stored inchrome.storage.local on the user's device. User preferences and sort settings are normally stored inchrome.storage.sync, which may synchronize them through Google Chrome across browsers signed in to the same Google account. If Chrome Sync is unavailable, those preferences fall back to local storage.

4. Sharing, sale, and external use

TabTab does not send browsing history, tab information, search text, or automatic-close logs to the developer or to advertising, analytics, or data-broker services. TabTab does not sell personal data and does not use it for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or lending decisions.

Information handled through Chrome APIs is used only to provide TabTab's user-facing tab-management features. TabTab's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Retention and user controls

Metadata for a live tab is removed when that tab closes and is pruned against currently open tabs when the extension starts. Automatic-close logs are retained locally up to the limit chosen by the user (100 entries by default). Preferences remain until changed by the user or handled according to Chrome Sync's lifecycle.

Users can disable history search or automatic cleanup, clear the automatic-close log, clear TabTab's local cache, manage Chrome Sync, disable the extension, or uninstall it.

6. Permissions

TabTab uses the tabs, storage,alarms, history, andfavicon permissions only for tab management, settings, scheduled cleanup, optional history search, and local favicon display.

7. Children

TabTab is a general-audience productivity tool and is not specifically directed to children under 13. It does not require an account or ask users to provide a name, email address, age, or similar identity information.
